Paraffin candles that are sold in most stores, are made from petroleum, which is a nonrenewable source that contains carcinogenic substances that can even affect reproductive health. These substances are released into the air while burning.
Paraffin candles often create a significant amount of black soot that collects on the jar, as well as on your walls and other surfaces of the home. The soy candle may accumulate some black soot on the jar if not cared for properly, but the amount is much less than paraffin candles.
Soy wax has a lower melting point compared to traditional waxes, meaning it burns much slower + will burn 30-50% longer than traditional store bought candles. This means that if you purchase a candle that usually lasts you one full month, this one will most likely get you to the 1.5 month mark before getting to replenish.
The slower burning time allows for not only a longer lasting candle, but also for holding onto fragrance that would faster escape and dissipate in a petroleum based candle. Because FMN candles burn slower than others, the scent is gradually released, removing any overwhelming wave of strong scent which can be unpleasant + overpowering to most ( no matter how nice the scent is).
